Doris Lavergne

MAMOU – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Doris Ann Lavergne at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 10, 2022, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou.  Burial will follow in Caesar Cemetery in Duralde, LA.

Doris Ann Lavergne, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 2, 2022, in Mamou, LA. Doris was born on December 12, 1940, in Mamou, LA to the late Ozamae and Rose Gradney.  She worked as a housekeeper at Savoy Care Center for over 20 years.  Doris was a nurturer and loved babysitting and caring for others.  She enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden and planting fruit trees. Her family meant the world to her.  Doris will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, Terence Lavergne and companion, Tonicha Morehead and Brian Lavergne and wife, Penny; daughters, Rachel Rene’ and husband, Norman and Denise Frank and husband, Lawrence; brother, Joseph “Chuck” Gradney and wife, Magdeline; grandchildren, Kelsey Frank, Aleaya Frank, Ava Rene’, Norman Rene’ II; sister in laws, Zola Gradney, Agnes Frank and husband, Wallace, and Geraldine James; brother in laws, Ernest Lavergne and wife, Francis and Theogne Lavergne and wife, Irene; a very special cousin, Bertha Thomas; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leolin Lavergne; parents, Ozamae and Rose Gradney; and brothers, Verlin Gradney, Irvin Gradney, Mckinley Gradney, and John Gradney.

Visitation will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on Monday, October 10, 2022, from 9:00 AM until service time.
