Cherrie Manuel

MAMOU – Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Saturday, December 26, 2020 for Cherrie Young Manuel, 88, who passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 in Mamou.

Father Billy Massie will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct funeral services.

Entombment will take place in New St. Ann’s Mausoleum.

Cherrie Young Manuel was born in Mamou, Louisiana on October 2, 1932 to Eual and Mabel Rozas Young. Cherrie was a devout Catholic, and an active parishioner at St. Ann’s Catholic Church.  She organized the Come Lord Jesus group at St. Ann’s Catholic Church.  Cherrie did the prayer line for many years and she was one of the first adoration adorers.  She loved her church and was very strong in her Catholic faith.  Cherrie was a Home-Economics teacher in Mamou for many years.  She loved to cook and bake and share her knowledge of cooking and baking with others.  Her greatest joy was that of spending time with and taking care of her family.  Cherrie will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.

Cherrie is survived by her two daughters, Krista Soileau and husband, Stephen of Sugarland, TX and Leah Bakker and husband, John of Slidell, LA; son, Chad E. Manuel, Sr. and wife, Veronica of Mamou; seven grandchildren, Brandon Soileau, Misty Arnold, Chad Manuel, Jr., Kaleb Manuel, Abigael Triplett, Phillip Bakker, and Hannah Bakker; five great-grandchildren, Clare Manuel, Aiden Manuel, Cali Triplett, , Emmi Triplett and Sophie Rae Soileau ; and sister, Shelbur Manuel of Mamou.

She is preceded in death by her husband Gene E. Manuel, and her parents, Eual and Mabel Rozas Young.

The family requests that visitation be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Saturday, December 26, 2020 from 8:00 AM until time of service.  A rosary will be recited by Father Billy Massie at 10:00 AM.  The family ask for all to wear mask.
