MAMOU - Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Monday, July 4, 2022, for Wilbert Ray LaFleur, 84, who passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022.
Burial will take place in the New St. Ann’s Cemetery.
Wilbert Ray LaFleur was a lifelong resident of Mamou, Wilbert worked and retired as a custodian at Mamou High School. He also served his community as a Deputy with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Department for many years. He was an avid fisherman and spent most of his time fishing for bream and catfish. When he wasn’t spending time on the lake or watching fishing shows, he was spending time with his grandchildren, watching them grow. They were his pride and joy. Wilbert was a kind, humble, and loving man. He never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a smile. His family and friends will miss him dearly.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Eva LaFleur Martello and husband, Sam; son, Todd LaFleur; and grandchildren, Avrie Martello, Sammy Martello, Xachery Martello, and Dru Martello.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Alice Whipple LaFleur and parents, Avie LaFleur and Hilda Fuselier LaFleur.
The family requests that a visitation be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Sunday, July 3, 2022, beginning at 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume in Ville Platte Monday, July 4, 2022, beginning at 8:00 AM until time of service.
