MAMOU - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Veronica “Ronnie” Soileau at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou, LA. Father Bola Rayapati will be the celebrant of the mass. Interment will follow at the New St. Ann’s Mausoleum in Mamou.
Ronnie Soileau, 81, passed away at her residence in Highlands, Texas, on Sunday, November 27, 2022. Though she lived in Texas, Veronica was born in Ville Platte to Joseph “Bobby” Demoruelle and Vernice LaHaye Demoruelle. She received her education from USL (now ULL) and McNeese State, obtaining a master’s degree in counseling for schools and individuals. She was a teacher for 25 years between Louisiana and Texas and then became a professional counselor for 20 + years. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Veronica will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Ronnie is survived by her sons, Blaine Philip Soileau and Shanon Gerald Soileau (Jamie); her daughter, Alyson Camille Soileau Lafleur (Curtis); three grandchildren: Adrienne Gotreaux, Madelyn Soileau, and Jean Soileau; and her brother, Joe “Clarence” Demoruelle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph “Bobby” Demoruelle and Vernice LaHaye Demoruelle.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Friday, December 2, 2022, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte. A Rosary will be recited that evening at 6:00 PM by Deacon Chuck Ortego. Visitation will resume on Saturday, December 3, 2022, from 8:00 AM until time of service.
