Obituary

MAMOU- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Terry N. Landreneau on Monday, February 27, 2023 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church at 3:00 PM.  Entombment will follow in the New St. Ann’s Mausoleum with Father Billy Massie conducting services.  Terry passed away on Sunday February 19, 2023 at the age of 86.

Terry N. Landreneau was born on December 11, 1936 and was the only child of Clement and Ruby Miller Landreneau.  Terry grew up and went to school in Mamou, Louisiana.  At the age of 13, he went to seminary in Lafayette and stayed there until the age of 19.  He then attended SLI (UL Lafayette today).  Terry received his Bachelor’s degree with a double major in music and French and went into teaching upon graduation.  He later went back to school and earned two Master’s degrees in Psychology from McNeese State University and began a second teaching career.

Before he taught school the second time, Terry did various things like working for a credit company and bookkeeping.  The most interesting job he had was that of working as an insurance investigator to sniff out insurance fraud.  This job fit him well since he had a suspicious nature.  Terry served in the United States Army in the late 1950s and was stationed with his former wife, Martha, in Baltimore, Maryland.

Terry enjoyed many different hobbies and took each one seriously. He was so interested in genealogy that one could call him an expert.  He traced some of his lines back so far he said he had to go to France to continue documenting the line.  Terry was diligent about ensuring all lines were heavily documented.  He used this talent to help churches catalogue old cemeteries.

When computers first came out he was the same with that hobby and put his heart and soul into learning about and using them.   Terry was an expert in the field at the time.

He loved to fish and never turned down an opportunity to get his rod and reel and hit the water.  He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by those he loved though they appreciate that he now knows peace.

Terry is survived by his daughters, Julie Isenberg and husband, Bruce, and Renee Brasseaux and husband, Jeremy.  He also had three grandchildren: Sage Mouton, Courtney Brasseaux, and Callie Brasseaux.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Clement and Ruby Miller Landreneau.
