MAMOU-Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou on Monday,  July 1, 2019, for Roy “Boo” O’Neal Chamberlain, 68, who passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019 in Mamou, LA.

Reverend Joey Reed, Pastor of Richie House of Prayer will conduct the funeral service.

Roy “Boo” O’Neal Chamberlain was born in Oakdale, LA on December 12, 1950 to his parents Jewel Lester Chamberlain and Cassie Hebert Chamberlain.  Boo married Wilda Guillory on January 15, 1972 and they started a life together in Mamou, LA.  He worked in the oil field as a painter sandblaster.  He then went on to work as a foreman at L&L Sandblasting in Eunice for several years.  Boo was president of the local JC organization and was instrumental part of the founding of the Cajun Music Festival.  Serving his community was very important to him having volunteered at many benefits and fundraisers in Mamou.  He was always ready to barbeque and lend a helping hand when needed.  His true passion was for Nascar racing and every Sunday he was in front of the TV cheering on Dale Earnhardt, Jr.  When he wasn’t helping in the community he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.  He looked forward to his yearly Thanksgiving hunting trip to 3 Rivers.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother.  He loved getting together with and family and friends and cooking for everyone.

He is survived by his two daughters, Bridgette Chamberlain Chapman and husband Christopher of Mamou and Kelly Chamberlain of Mamou; three grandchildren, Dylan Ritter, Jordan Ritter and Micah Chapman; one brother, James Lester Chamberlain and wife Lucy of Oakdale; three sisters, Jackie Feely and husband Pat of Bossier City, Kat Thacker and husband Sherman of Calcasieu, La and Judy Dickens and husband Jimmy of Mauriceville, Tx.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Wilda Guillory Chamberlain; parents, Jewel Lester Chamberlain and Cassie Hebert Chamberlain; six brothers, Dalton Chamberlain, Clifton Chamberlain, Tony David Chamberlain, Jewel Scott Chamberlain, Charles Frederick Chamberlain and Delbert Chamberlain.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou on Sunday, June 30, 2019 from 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Monday from 8:00 AM until time of service
