MAMOU - Graveside services celebrating the life of Raphael Aucoin will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 1, 2021 at the Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery in Ville Platte.
Mr. Ray, (as he was affectionately known) 80, of Mamou, passed from this life on Friday, February 26, 2021. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and was a beloved coach and educator. Mr. Ray taught 1 year at Pine Prairie High School and 25+ years in Mamou. He loved traveling, gardening, LSU football, cooking and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be missed dearly.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 57 years Margie, son Mark (Tina) of Pine Prairie, daughter Lisa Wedlock (Rogers) of Chataignier, son Bruce (Karen) of Washington, La and daughter Lori Ardoin (Richard) of Alexandria, grandchildren, Erika Fontenot, Kelly Dunagan, Maegan d’Autremont, Bryan Aucoin, Andrew Ardoin, Blake and Katie Aucoin, Cammie and Carley Ardoin, five great-grandchildren, one sister Betty Guillory (Robert) of Ville Platte and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Mr. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Jules and Alina; brother, Burke, sisters, Mildred Camp, Melba Fontenot and Nettie Brown and grandson Brad Wedlock.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Sunday, February 28, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A rosary will be recited in his honor at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday, March 1, 2021 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
