Phillip Romero

February 4, 1954 — December 16, 2022

MAMOU – A private memorial service will be held at a later date for Phillip Michael Romero, who passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Savoy Medical Center in Mamou at the age of 68.

Phillip Michael Romero was born on February 4, 1954 in Jackson, Mississippi to Shirley and Eva Conner Romero.  He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for two years.  Phillip was a man of many talents including “making something out of nothing.”  He enjoyed the study of Botany, had a green thumb and could give plants life again with his tender care.  Phillip also made flowerpots and benches from tree branches that he had cut.  Music and playing the guitar were two of Phillip’s greatest joys and he enjoyed all genres.  Repairing and re-purposing  different things brought him much pride and enjoyment.  Phillip had a special place in his heart for children and was always eager to help them and serve as a father-figure when needed.  This special man touched many people’s lives in a special way and he will be greatly missed by them all.

Phillip is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sandra Romero; four children, Dillon Romero of Iota, Lacey Epps and husband, Daniel of Danville, Virginia, Jamie Doucet and wife, Karen of Iota and Angie Andrepont and husband, Robbie of Danville, Virginia; three grandsons, Jared Daigle, Gavin Doucet, and Logan Andrepont; and granddaughter, Tori Lopez.  Also left behind to cherish his memory are his great grandchildren, Kylar Rowles, Dean Lopez, and Carter Lopez; brothers, Allen Romero and wife, Debra, of Texas, Rickey Romero of Youngsville, Bo Romero and wife, Tricia of Lafayette and Timmy Romero of Healdton, Oklahoma.

Phillip is preceded in death by his parents, Shirley Romero and Eva Conner Romero; mother and father in law, Willa Mae and Henry Lula; and sister in law, Shelley Romero.
