MAMOU - Funeral services will be held at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Saturday, July 23, 2022, for Maurice Coutee, Jr., 72, who passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2022. Burial will take place in Pine Clair Cemetery.
Brother Maurice Coutee, Jr. was born July 25, 1949, to the late Maurice Sr. and Mary Coutee. He was baptized at an early age at Little Flower Catholic Church. Maurice worked as a Truck Driver for several years up to his retirement. In November 1968, he married Elsie Mae Thomas in Ville Platte. Where he settled with this wife and six kids.
Maurice is preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Coutee, Sr. and Mary Coutee; two brothers, Joseph Calvin Coutee and Peter Coutee; and one sister, Mercedes Coutee.
Cherishing fond memories of Maurice will be his wife of 53 years, Elsie Mae Coutee of Ville Platte; three daughters, Angela Coutee of Ville Platte, Teresa Coutee Drummer of Baytown, TX, and Rachel Coutee Durgin of Beaumont, TX; three sons, Ricky Coutee of Cleveland, TX, Sidney Coutee of Ville Platte, and Gregory Coutee of Ville Platte; his siblings, Joyce Semien of Lawtell, John Coutee of Beaver, Shirley Coutee of Lawtell, and Atlida Coutee of Cloutierville, LA sixteen grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
The family requests that a visitation be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Saturday, July 23, 2022, beginning at 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM. A rosary will be recited by Deacon Chuck Ortego at 10:00 AM.
Pallbearers are Ricky Coutee, Marvin Thomas, Eddie Edward, Jamal Drummer, Chad Coutee, Edward Durgin, Sidney Coutee, and Morric Coutee.
Honorary Pallbearers are Reco Coutee, Byron Durgin, Brelinsky Coutee, Brandon Coutee, Jaleel Durgin, and Giles Coutee.
