Mary Miller Lanthier

MAMOU-Funeral Services will be held at a 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Thursday, October 24, 2019, for Mary Louise Miller Lanthier, 99, who passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 in Eunice, LA surrounded by his loved ones.

Father Billy Massie, Pastor of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass and will conduct all funeral services.

Her earthly remains will then be laid to rest in the serene country setting of the L’Anse Meg Cemetery, as her soul has long since departed and resides in a mansion lined with streets of gold.

The virtue of this world was lessened a bit with the peaceful departure of Mary Louise Miller Lanthier from this earth, in the early morning hours of October 22, 2019.  Mary’s life spanned a century, of which she used every living minute of her life exhibiting generosity by putting the needs of others ahead of her own.    She was a loving, accepting, and nurturing mother, who regardless of how hard she had worked that day, ensured that her home was clean, meals were always prepared, and her husband and children were cared for.  Mary always had time to help with homework and attend school functions and was an intricate and a strong positive influence in all her family’s lives.  The combination of her strong religious beliefs and her undying devotion to her family and friends are not only a tribute to herself, but a testament to the good of mankind itself.  She will be missed by all, but not forgotten, as her goodness and the pureness of her spirit remains in the hearts of all she met.   Mary Louise Miller Lanthier was a living example that greatness is not a matter of earthly possessions, but the positive influence you leave upon this world.

Mary is survived by four sons, Nolan Lanthier, Charles Kenneth Lanthier, Richard Wayne Lanthier, and Patrick Lanthier.   Her living legacy continued as she lived to witness the birth of an additional ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and ten great-great grandchildren.

Mary is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Clarence Lanthier, one son James Rodney Lanthier, one daughter-in law Loretta Lanthier, two grandsons, Andy Lanthier and Brian Lanthier.

As she would have it in life, so that it will be in her death, that we will not mourn, but celebrate the lifetime of our matriarch by joining the family at Ardoin’s Funeral Home located at 716 6th Street, Mamou, LA for visitation on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM.  A rosary will be recited by Deacon Chuck Ortego at 6:00 PM Wednesday.  Visitation will resume on Thursday, October 24, 2019 from 9:00 AM until time of service.
