MAMOU – Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Friday, February 26, 2021 for Lionel Bordelon, Sr., 80, who passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021 in Alexandria, Louisiana.
Pastor Terry LaFleur will conduct funeral services.
Burial will take place in the New St. Ann’s Cemetery.
Lionel Bordelon, Sr. was born on September 2, 1940 in Mamou, LA to Tanis and Eva Bordelon. A lifelong resident of Mamou, Lionel was self-employed as a welder. He worked in many places inland and offshore. Lionel owned and bred racehorses. He taught all his sons how to be jockeys and to break horses. He loved spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping.
Lionel is survived by his sons, Gilbert Bordelon and wife, Marla of Pine Prairie, Lionel Bordelon, Jr., Blake Bordelon, and Glen Bordelon and fiancé, Jessica Lejeune of Mamou; grandchildren, Christopher Bordelon, Benjamin Bordelon, Nicolas Bordelon, Alexis Berzas, Marie Miller, and Rusty Bordelon; and 10 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ursaline Lejeune Bordelon; his parents, Tanis and Eva Bordelon; and son, Kenneth Bordelon.
The family requests that visitation will be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM. A rosary will be recited by Deacon Chuck Ortego on Thursday at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Friday, February 26, 2021 from 8:00 AM until time of service.
