MAMOU - Funeral services will be held at an 11:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Spirit Chapel in Vidrine on Monday, February 24, 2020 for Hazel Vidrine, 97, who passed away on Friday, February 21, 2020 at her residence in Ville Platte.
Father Billy Massie will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct funeral services.
Entombment will take place in the New St. Ann’s Mausoleum.
Hazel Vidrine was born in Mamou, Louisiana on March 26, 1922 to Willis and Agnes Brignac Fontenot. She was a loving, caring person who was dedicated to her family. She was always a hard working, compassionate and patient person who spent her life taking care of those she loved. Hazel was a meticulous dresser and always liked everything around her to be shiny and clean. Together with her husband she owned and operated a general store in Ville Platte which was fondly referred to as the “Little Cajun Wal Mart”.
She is survived by her two sons, Patrick Landreneau and wife, Bonnie of Lake Charles and Blake Vidrine of Ville Platte; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Agnes Brignac Fontenot; her first husband, Leslie Landreneau; her second husband, Havely Vidrine; and three brothers, Percy, J.C. and Nelson Fontenot.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Sunday, February 23, 200 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume Monday at 8:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be recited on Sunday evening at 6:00 PM and will be led by Deacon Chuck Ortego.
