Gregory "Half Pint" Manuel

MAMOU – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Gregory Manuel at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 21, 2022, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou.  Father Billy Massie will be the celebrant of the mass. Burial will follow in New St. Ann’s Cemetery.

Gregory Manuel, 67, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 18, 2022, in Lafayette, LA. Gregory was born on December 23, 1954, in Kinder, LA to Horace and Lilly Manuel.  He was a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.  His devotion to family was apparent every day.  This is where he left his legacy of faith in God, service to others and love for all. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.  His family meant the world to him.  He enjoyed camping and meeting the coffee group at Jiffy every morning. Gregory will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Joanah Fontenot Manuel; four sons, Lucas Scott Manuel and wife Denae, Dr. Rusty Paul Manuel and wife, Dr. Maghon Manuel, Dustin Kirk Manuel and wife, Candace, and Brook Ryan Manuel and companion, Megan Velek; daughter in law, Nicki Manuel; sixteen grandchildren; brother, Ray Manuel and wife, Jenny; and sister, Tonya Bertrand.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Lilly Manuel; son, Greg Manuel, II; two sisters, Mona Harwell and Ruby Fontenot; and brother, Kirk Fontenot.

Visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou on Sunday, February 20, 2022, from 2:00 PM until 10:00 PM.  A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM.  Visitation will resume on Monday, February 21, 2022, from 8:00 AM until time of service.
