MAMOU – Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM at Ardoin’s Funeral Home on Saturday, August 29, 2020 for Ena Fontenot, 97, who passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020 in Mamou, Louisiana.
Deacon Ben Soileau will conduct funeral services.
Entombment will take place in New St. Ann’s Mausoleum.
Ena Fontenot was born on September 14, 1922 in Mamou, LA to Amel and Lena Manuel. She was a lifelong resident of Mamou. Ena was a devout catholic and an active parishioner at St. Ann’s Catholic Church for many years. She was well known around the Mamou area for her amazing sewing talent. She made many wedding dresses for brides around the area. Ena also sewed clothing for her children and grandchildren. Ena enjoyed cooking for her family and watching them gather around her table where they would visit and make many wonderful memories. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by those that knew her.
She is survived by her daughter Beverly Landreneau and husband, Edward of Mandeville; sons Carl Fontenot and wife, Gloria of St. Francesville and Lynn Fontenot and wife, Mary of Eunice; brother, J.E. Manuel of Eunice; seven grandchildren, Shelly Fontenot, Jarrod Fontenot, Justin Fontenot, Derek Fontenot , Dwayne Landreneau , Brian Landreneau, and Angelle Deboer; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Murphy Fontenot; parents, Amel and Lena Manuel; brothers, Lettelle Manuel and Nelson Manuel; and sisters, Erose Fontenot and Nedwyn Landry.
At the request of the family, visitation will be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Saturday Saturday August 29, 2020 from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM. A rosary will be recited at 10:00 AM.
