Dulcie D. “Janie” LaHaye was born on October 14, 1935 in Ville Platte, LA to Ellis and Dulcie Dupre. Born and raised in Ville Platte, Janie was brought up with a strong Catholic faith.  Serving God, her church, and her family was a huge part of her life.  This holy and selfless lady worked along with her husband on the family farm while raising a beautiful and large family.  Serving her family as a mother and a wife and serving the community through her time at Farm Bureau, Sacred Heart School and through membership of her local Come Lord Jesus and Teresian prayer groups filled her life with such joy.  Janie instilled the same values of service, faith, and love of God in her children and grandchildren. She lived life to the fullest, through simple pleasures of coffee, the outdoors, and laughter, while sharing her grateful and generous heart. She touched the lives of so many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Jody LaHaye and wife Cheryl, Richard LaHaye and wife Cindy, Sandy Ortego and husband Paul, Billy LaHaye and wife Kristy, and Dusty Miller and husband Myron; granddaughter, Maggie Sevin and husband Byron; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Susan LaHaye and Michelle Soileau; and brothers, Rusty Dupre and Dr. Henry Dupre.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Glenn LaHaye; daughter, Smokey Martin; son-in- law, Robert Martin; parents, Ellis and Dulcie Dupre; and brother, Johnny Dupre.

The family requests that visitation be observed at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM. A rosary will be recited by Father Billy Massie at 10:30 AM Saturday.
