Callie Berzas

July 12, 1940 — November 10, 2020

MAMOU – Funeral services will be held at a 3:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Thursday, November 12, 2020 for Callie G. Berzas, 80, who passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 in Mamou.

Father Bala Rayapati will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct funeral services.

Burial will take place in Ortego Cemetery.

Callie Guillory Berzas was born in Reddell on July 12, 1940 to Maxille and Marice Mayeaux Guillory.  She enjoyed working in her yard, sewing, painting crafts, and decorating her bird houses. She loved cooking for her family for Sunday dinners, and having her family over for visits. Callie enjoyed travelling around the country and visiting new places.  Like a true Cajun, Callie had a love for Mardi Gras and enjoyed watching the parades.  She found the most joy spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Callie attended every event her children and grandchildren participated in. This is where she instilled the importance of family values and love into her children and grandchildren.  She spent many hours traveling down long dirt roads proudly teaching her grandchildren to drive. They always brought the happiest smile to her face. She will be missed by all those who loved her.

Callie is survived by her daughters, Karen Soileau and husband, Michael, Janice Myers and husband, Sidney, and Lynette Duplechian and husband, Rusty; son, Daniel Blake Berzas and wife, Dorothy; grandchildren, Jeremy Soileau, Kristin Guillot, Tamara Soileau, Misty Walton, Heather O’Neal, Jonathan Myers, Rusty Duplechian, Brennan Duplechian, Kalyn Bertrand, Jacinda Fruge, Casey Berzas; 26 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Willard Joel Berzas; parents, Maxille Guillory and Marice Mayeaux Guillory; and her brothers, Herman Guillory and Hatra Guillory.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home on Thursday, November 12, 2020 from 9:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 10:00 AM.

Serving as pall bearers are Casey Berzas, Brennan Duplechian, Jonathan Myers, Daniel Mayeaux, Nathan Guillot, and Brayden O’Neal.  Honorary pall bearer is Trent Bertrand.

The Berzas family would like to extend a heart felt thank you to the entire staff of Savoy Medical Center to the loving care given to their Mother during her illness.
