Albert Guillory, Sr.

January 30, 1932 — June 23, 2020

MAMOU – Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Thursday, June 25, 2020 for Albert Paul “Big” Guillory, Sr., 88, who passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 in Mamou, Louisiana.

Father Billy Massie will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct funeral services.

Burial will take place in the new St. Ann’s Cemetery.

Albert Paul “Big” Guillory, Sr. was born on January 30, 1932 to Navy and Julie Blanchard Guillory.   He was a lifelong resident of Mamou.  Big was loved and admired by everyone wo knew him.  His greatest pleasure was serving the Lord.  He served as an altar server for many priests, eucharistic minister, adoration adore, and on the Knights of Columbus.  He humbly received the Bishops Service Award in 2011.  Big enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and served in the Korean War. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by those that knew him.

Big is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Gracie A. Guillory; two sons, Paul Guillory and wife Ellen of Westlake and John Guillory of Mamou; daughter, Gina Douget and husband Russell of Iota; eight grandchildren, Scott, Jason, Julie, Justin, Maile, Heather, Tiffany, and Brodie; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Navy and Julie Blanchard Guillory; 2 sisters; and great-granddaughter, Gracie Zaunbracher.

At the request of the family, visitation will be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Wednesday, June 24 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  A rosary will be recited by Deacon Chuck Ortego on Wednesday at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will resume on Thursday, June 25, 2020 from 8:00 until time of service.

The Guillory family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Mamou Rehab and Grace Hospice for the compassion and care given to their Dad.
