MAMOU - Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mamou on Friday, December 29, 2017 for Mrs. Wonette "Nell" Cormier, age 69, who passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.
Father Billy Massie, Pastor of St. Ann's Catholic Church, will be celebrating the mass and will conduct funeral services.
Burial will take place in St. Thomas More Cemetery in Eunice.
Nell was an active member at St. Ann's Catholic Church. She served as a Eucharistic minister, and at one time she would go into the homes of those who were homebound to administer the Eucharist. Nell loved to read and paint figurines. Her greatest love was spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her memories will live on through her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 8 years, Allen J. Cormier; daughter, Christy Denneé Deshotel and son, Richard "Ricky" Wayne Deshotel, Jr. both of Mamou; 4 step-sons, Jody Cormier and wife "Tiny" of Maurice, Nicky Cormier and wife Jerry of Sunset, Lonnie Cormier and wife Leslie of Sunset, and Toby Cormier and wife Robin of Sunset; 3 grandchildren, Alex, Baylee and Brandon Deshotel; 9 step-grandchildren, Amber, Matthew, Grant, Ian, Lauren, Allie, Libby, Savanna and Ysabella; sister, Stephanie Fontenot Doucet of Southhaven, TN; and brother, Keith Fontenot and wife Sheila of Dequincy, LA.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Mamou on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM. Visitation will resume Friday from 8:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM by Deacon Chuck Ortego on Thursday, December 29, 2017.
