Weldon Fruge Dupre, Jr.

MAMOU – Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 AM Service at First Baptist Church of Mamou on Saturday, January 9, 2021 for Weldon T. Fruge Dupre, Jr., 77, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a valiant struggle with cancer.

Reverend David Ragley will conduct funeral services.

Burial will take place in the First Baptist Cemetery.

Weldon was a deacon and longtime member of First Baptist Church of Mamou.  He was a Christian and he loved the Lord.  His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life.  The legacy of Weldon’s kind spirit, passion for Christ and zest for life will live on through them.  He was an inspiration to all who knew him.  Weldon will always be remembered with a smile on his face and a funny story or joke on his lips.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Weldon is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Laura Jane Fruge; two daughters, Gwendolyn Marie Lafleur of Mamou and Samantha Guillory and husband, David of Mamou; two sons, Gary Steven Fruge and wife, Martha of Mamou and John Fruge’ Dupre and wife Glenda, of Pollock, LA; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; sister, Gabby Manuel and husband, Glenn of Mamou; and two brothers, Glen Dupre and wife Caroline of Franklin, LA and Berkman Dupre and wife, Loretta of Center, TX.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Anatole Dupre and Ovelia Roy Dupre; two sisters, Winnie Mae Gobert and Margie Vidrine; five brothers, Weston Dupre, L.D. Dupre, Norman Dupre, Anatole Dupre, Jr., and Preston Dupre.

The family requests that visitation will be observed at First Baptist Church of Mamou on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 10:00 AM until time of service on Saturday, January 9, 2021.
