MAMOUIt is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Walter Stroud, 73, announces his passing on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at his residence. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 03, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Mamou. Burial will follow in the Bieber Cemetery with Brother Ervin Goodman officiating.
Walter was a member of the First Baptist Church He loved his livestock, gardening and was a jigsaw puzzle enthusiast. Walter was a Pre Cast Erector of commercial and industrial buildings of Spancrete Inc. N.Y.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Walter will be missed by his daughter, Laura Manuel and husband Lionel of Mamou six stepdaughters, Judith Newell and husband Leslie of Ravena, NY, Lucille Margiasso and husband James of Hannocroix, NY, Leila Henderson and husband Fred of Palm Bay, FL, Freda Stahl of Coxsackie, NY, Faye Van Dyke of Coxsackie, NY and Lona Landauer and companion Roger Nickle of Berne, NY one brother, Kenneth Stroud and wife Rosie of Hannocroix, NY one sister, Virginia Stroud of Coxsackie, NY three grandchildren, Daniel James Manuel, Jonathan Perry Manuel and his wife Amanda and Stephen Townsend all of Mamou three greatgrandchildren Taven, Nathan and Brayden Manuel eighteen stepgrandchildren and twentytwo step greatgrandchildren and one greatgreatgrandchild and six stepgreatgreatgrandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife Freda Stroud, parents Walter Sr. and Florence Stroud two brothers Carl Mattice and Donald Stroud one sister Gloria Heath two stepdaughters, Lenore Fontenot and Janis Lovrin two stepgrandsons, Jason Landauer and Phillip Henderson.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Mamou on Friday, August 2, 2013 from 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM and again on Saturday, August 3, 2013 from 9:00 AM until Services.
