Vernitta Martin

MAMOUA loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Vernitta Mammah Martin will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Vernitta passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the Heart Hospital of Lafayette surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 73. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:30 pm on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Ardoins Funeral Home Chapel in Mamou with Brother Roger Whittington officiating.

Vernitta, a resident of Turkey Creek, volunteered most of her time at St. Peters Catholic Church in Pine Prairie. She is survived by her son, Robert Devaney of New Bedford, MA six daughters, Christie Sherman of Fall River, MA, Gladys Simmons of Pine Prairie, LA, Kellie Devaney of New Bedford, MA, Heather Aguillard of Vidrine, LA, Lindsey Abaray of Lafayette, LA, and Nicole Abaray of Ville Platte, LA several brothers and sisters eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Now she rests in Heaven with her parents, Lenson and Lucy Marcantel Ardoin two sons, Stephen and David Devaney and soninlaw, Damien Aguillard.
