MAMOU It is with great sadness that the family of Vernice F. Ortego, 96, announces her passing on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 5:45 p.m. at Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Pine Prairie. A Celebration of Life will be Celebrated on Monday, June 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peters Catholic Church in Pine Prairie. Rite of Committal will follow in the Ortego Cemetery in Lanse Greise with Father Sonny Brown officiating.
Vernice, a resident of Pine Prairie, was a great quilter and was an avid gardner. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, and will lovingly be remembered by her son, Harry Ortego and wife, Sunny of Bethel, Ohio daughter, Major Rene Bastien and husband, Roland of Streator, Illinois four grandchildren, Jane Schupp and husband, Bradley of Illinois, Wade Bastien of California, Kevin Bastien of Georgia, and Gregory Ortego of Kentucky and four great grandchildren.
She now rest in Heaven with her beloved husband, A.D. Ortego parents, Mr. and Mrs. Curley Fontenot and brother, Lee Roy C. Fontenot.
At the request of the family visiting hours will be observed Monday, June 14, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. untiltime of services.
