MAMOUIt is with the heaviest hearts and great sadness that the family of Velma Mickey Gotreaux announces her passing on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at the Prairie Manor Nursing Home, at the age of 67. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Ann Catholic Church in Mamou at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. Interment will follow in the St. Bridget Cemetery with Father Mark Melancon officiating.

Mickey, a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend she will be sadly missed by her son, Anthony Tony Gotreaux and wife, Nancy of Reddell four daughters, Charlotte Verrett and husband, Avery of Bayou Chicot, Nell LeBleu and husband Tony of Point Blue, Vicky Douget and husband Steve of Mamou, Bridget Gotreaux and Fiance Beau Stewart of Evergreen the father of her children, Nolan Gotreaux of Baton Rouge four brothers, Kermit Lavergne, Clarence Lavergne, Jr, Ricky John McGee, all of Mamou, and Curtis Mcgee of Point Blue two sisters, Betty Lavergne of Church Point and Romona Lavergne of Ville Platte seventeen grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. Mickey will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

She now rests in Heaven with her beloved parents, Clarence Lillian Lavergne one daughter, Chasity Nicole Gotreaux two brothers, Alton Lavergne and Oliver Lavergne and two sisters, Mary Dupre and Rita McGee.

At the request of the Gotreaux family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Mamou on Monday, April 18, 2011 from 2:00 pm until time of services on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm on Monday evening by Father Mark Melancon.
