Stagg G. Duplechain passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025 in Eunice, Louisiana at the age of 94. Stagg was born on Thursday, January 29, 1931, in Basile, Louisiana and was known for his loving personality and hard work. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann Catholic Church on Monday, September 8, 2025 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in the New St. Ann Cemetery with Father Billy Massie officiating services.
Stagg’s dedication to his professions of mechanic and farmer are a true testament of his hard work to provide for his family. He was a devout Catholic and served the Lord throughout his life with unwavering faith and commitment.
Stagg's devotion to his family was his most notable characteristic and was evident to everyone. He is survived by his three sons, Ray Duplechain and wife, Stella, Timmy Duplechain and wife, Janet, and Neil Duplechain and wife, Suzanne and two daughters, Sherry Ross and husband, Bill and Sandra Vidrine and husband, Steven. Stagg was a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren, Kaera Doucet, Shanna Dupre, Zoe Duplechain, Kyle Ross, Candice Ross-Burton, Kade Kelly, Addison Draper, Kirk Vidrine, Travis Vidrine, Kristie Mayeux, Danyelle Lafleur, Hannah Coward, Samantha Fontenot, and Matthew Guillory, all of whom cherish fond memories of their time with him. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren, whose lives he touched with his love and devotion; one sister, Bonnie Bradley; and one brother, John Duplechain.
Stagg was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Duplechain; parents, Thanes and Bertha Duplechain; and his siblings, Harold Duplechain and Tracy Fruge.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM and again on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM. A rosary will be recited in his name on Sunday at 6:30 PM and will be led by Deacon Chuck Ortego.
Stagg's legacy of love, hard work, and devotion to family will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. His presence will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will live on through his family and the countless lives he touched.
