Shanon Brent "Zigg Weed" Chapman

MAMOU - Shanon Brent Chapman,  lovingly known as "Zigg Weed", passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, in Baton Rouge, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at the New St. Ann’s Cemetery.

Shanon was born on Friday, July 22, 1966, in the small town of Mamou to the late Donald and Priscilla Chapman. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  Shanon had a passion for fishing and woodworking that brought him immense happiness. Whether casting his line into the peaceful waters or meticulously crafting beautiful wooden creations, he found solace in these activities. He also possessed a talent for cooking over a fire, but the braise had to be just right especially when cooking a sauce piquante or fish couvillion.

Professionally, Shanon dedicated his career to the oil industry, working as a Chemical Salesman for Clariant Chemical. His commitment and expertise earned him respect throughout his years of service.

Left to cherish his memories are his children, Jenna Douzart and husband, Dillon of Mamou, Joni Chapman and fiancé, Zayde Soileau of Eunice, Brent Chapman and wife, Allie of Lake Arthur, his brothers, Brook Chapman of Mamou and Eric Chapman of Beaumont, TX; his grandchildren, Mollie Chapman, Caiden Chapman, Acyn Soileau, Stormi Douzart, Maylee Soileau, Cameron Chapman, and Collin Chapman.

Shanon is proceeded in death by his wife, Shannon Chapman; his son, Jade Fuselier; parents, Donald Chapman, and Priscilla Marcantel Tate; his stepfather, Ray Tate and sister, Shaney Morein.

At the family’s request, a visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou on Friday, February 9, 2024, at 3:00 pm until 8:00 PM with a Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will resume on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 8:00 AM until time of service.
