MAMOU -- Sally Israel Chapman, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on January 6, 2024, at the age of 62, after a brief illness. Born on February 26, 1961, in Mamou, Louisiana, Sally was a cherished member of the community and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou, LA at 2:00 PM. Interment will be at New St. Ann’s Cemetery. Father Massie will preside over all services.
Sally's greatest joy in life was her family. She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband of 39 years, Brook Chapman. Their love and partnership were a true testament to the power of commitment and shared dreams. Sally leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She will be deeply missed by her loving family.
Left to cherish those memories are her two sons, Ferryl Deshotel and wife Rainee, and Alex Chapman and fiancé Mandy Trahan; nine grandchildren, Conner (Alexis), Lily, Weston, Zellie, Maria, Lenni, Lola, Teddi, and Tilly; one great-grandson, Oliver. Also, left to cherish her memories are her siblings, Dennis (Anita) Israel, Darrel Israel, Sheila (Derryl) Deshotel, Roxy (Scotty) Christ, and Helen Israel.
Sally is proceeded in death by her first husband, Ferryl Deshotel; her parents, Hampton and Berthaline Israel, and one brother, Ronald Israel.
At the family’s request, family and friends are invited to pay their respects beginning at 12:30 PM at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Thursday, January 11, 2024. A Rosary will be prayed at 1:30 PM and the Mass will follow.
The Chapman family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Savoy Medical Center for their compassionate care during Sally's illness. They would also like to extend their appreciation to Methodist Hospital-Stone Oak in San Antonio for their exceptional medical expertise and support, especially nurses Megan and Victor.
