MAMOUIt is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family announce the passing of their beloved, husband, father , grandfather, and friend, Roland Smith, on October 27, 2010 at Savoy Medical Center at the age of 70. A Services will be Celebrated at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at the Church Of Christ in Cypress Creek. Burial will follow in the Science Hill Cemetery with Brother Robert Johnson officiating.
He leaves behind a loving and grateful family including his, wife, of 47 years Nancy Granger Smith, of Mamou Two sons, Dr. Sherwood Lan Smith and wife, Harump of KanaKura, Japan and Chad Smith , of Mamou and one daughter Tanya Smith also of Mamou two grandchildren, Dustin and Aubre Cole both of Mamou He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Myrtle Smith
Roland was a Director of the Career School in Vidrine Principal in Vidrine for over 20 years, he also taught for over 30 years in the Evangeline Parish School System Roland was a Farmer and cattleman in Evangeline Parish for most of his life..
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Mamou on Saturday, October 30, 2010 from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm.on Sunday 11:00 am until time of services Mr. Smith will be in State at the Church of Christ in Cypress Creek.
