Roger Paul Morein, a faithful and hardworking man whose life was marked by devotion to his family, proud resilience, and commitment to his community, passed away at his residence on August 10, 2026, in Mamou. Born in Pine Prairie on July 27, 1932, Roger spent 94 remarkable years enriching the lives of all who were fortunate to know him.

Roger was known for his unwavering faith and deep-rooted values. Raised by his parents, Armand Morein and Bertha Guillory Morein, Roger carried forward the lessons of integrity, perseverance, and faithfulness imparted by his upbringing. Throughout his life, his devotion was apparent—in his steadfast love for his late wife, Margaret Carriere Morein, and in the care and guidance he offered his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Connie Morein, Jeanie Morein, and Rod Morein, all of Mamou, whose lives reflect the strength and character they inherited from their father. Roger leaves behind cherished grandchildren Taylor Morein and Zachary Morein, as well as great-grandchildren Colton Richard and Remi Richard, each of whom brought tremendous joy and pride into his later years. He is also remembered and reunited with his son Paul Ricky Morein, whose passing preceded his.

A man of many talents and interests, Roger found fulfillment in his long career as an oilfield worker and crawfish farmer. He was especially proud of having managed his crawfish business on his own for a decade, an achievement that spoke to his diligence and self-reliance. His college accounting diploma contributed to his thoughtful and efficient management, both in business and at home.

Roger was well known for his love of simple but meaningful pleasures, playing cards, tending his garden, enjoying a spirited game of checkers with his brother's Texas family, and welcoming each new year of his life with his annual birthday celebrations. The last four years, these gatherings were anticipated with particular excitement, and they were among his most treasured times.

In addition to his work and family, Roger found purpose in service. He enjoyed helping at election polls whenever possible and took particular pride in his simple acts of kindness, such as bringing grocery bags to the St. Francis center, supporting those in need within his community.

Those close to Roger recall with admiration his steadfastness, often described as “hard headed,” but always with a sense of affectionate respect that speaks to the strength of his convictions. Above all, he was a great husband and father: loving, reliable, and principled.

The community is invited to pay their respects during a visitation at Ardoin’s Funeral Home on August 13, 2026, from 9:00 AM until Mass at St Ann Catholic Church at 1:30 PM with Father Arockia Doss Palthasar officiating. A rosary will be prayed by Father Casey Dugas at 10:00 AM. Roger will be laid to rest at New St. Ann Cemetery. 

The legacy Roger Paul Morein leaves behind is not one measured simply in years, but in the depth of his generosity, his work ethic, and his enduring love for family, faith, and community. He will be dearly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
