Robert Lee “Bobby” Dougia was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on October 11, 1938, to Herbert and Eza Mary Rozas Dougia. Bobby was a lifelong educator. He graduated from USL with a bachelor’s degree and furthered his education by obtaining a master’s degree from LSU. He had the honor of being the first principal at Evangeline Academy. He was a longtime principal of Mamou High School. He became a math and science professor at LSUE. Bobby never met a stranger. He always had a smile on his face and would greet everyone with a warm handshake. He was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His family was his greatest pride and joy. He instilled the value of prayer in his children and grandchildren and when life got rough, he would always say “Chin up now”. Bobby enjoyed playing tennis and spending time outside birdwatching and feeding his birds. One of his favorite past times was dancing to Cajun Music with the love his life Lois. His family and friends will miss him dearly but rejoice in knowing he is celebrated in heaven.
Bobby is survived by his three daughters, Jan Guillory and husband, Tony of Mamou, Dana Morales and husband Donny of Vidrine, and Kayla Dougia Kettell and husband, Adam of Madison, Alabama; three grandchildren, Denee’ Soileau, Danielle Ardoin, and Caitlin Marshall; three step grandchildren; four great grandchildren, Gage Guillory, Lainey Beth Soileau, Drew Soileau, and Bre Ardoin; and seven step great grandchildren.
