Ricky Deshotel, a beloved father, devoted worker, and lover of nature, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the age of 61. Born on Saturday, May 5, 1962, in Mamou, LA to John Deshotel and Ester Stelly Deshotel.

 

He was known for his incredible work ethic and dedication as a Floor Covering and Floor Installation expert. With over four decades of experience, he excelled in his field, taking great pride in his craftsmanship and attention to detail. His commitment and passion for his work were truly commendable.

 

Ricky had an unwavering appreciation for the beauty of the great outdoors. Spending time fishing and camping brought him immense joy and tranquility. Whether casting a line into calm waters or sitting by a crackling campfire, he found solace in these simple pleasures.

 

In his leisure time, Ricky was an avid movie fanatic. He had an extensive collection of films, with a particular fondness for scary and thriller genres. His knowledge of movies was extensive, and he loved sharing his passion with others.

 

Left to cherish his memories are his children, Bridgett Deshotel Miller (Joshua Miller) of Ville Platte, Alicia Deshotel (Dexter Atkins) of Baton Rouge, Ashley Deshotel Doucet (David Doucet) of Ville Platte, Travis Deshotel (Amber Martel) of Ville Platte, Ricky Deshotel (Andrea Simon) of Crowley, and Damien Deshotel (Abby Cloud) of Ville Platte; fifteen grandchildren, Alyssa Deshotel, Arianna Miller, Aiden Miller, Alyson Miller, Aspen Deshotel, Oliver Deshotel, Felix Deshotel, Haivyn Deshotel, Rhenlee Deshotel, Desaray Atkins, Levi Deshotel, Kayson Deshotel, Michael Richard, DJ Atkins, and Dayton Atkins. Also, left to cherish Ricky’s memories are his beloved mother, Ester Lee Deshotel; his siblings, Tabby Fontenot (Pine Fontenot) of Pine Prairie, Shantell Vidrine (Chris Vidrine) of Pine Prairie, Mandy Taylor of Waxia, John Deshotel (Denise Hill) of Turkey Creek and Jeremy Deshotel (Kristi Deshotel) of Abbeville. 

 

He is proceeded in death by his father, John Deshotel; brother-in-law, Christopher Taylor, Sr., his wife, Tawnya Haviland Deshotel and his twin grandchildren, Brynleigh and Blakelynn Deshotel.
