Rejoyice Thomas

Rejoyice, who loved to be called ‘MOMMA’ by her children, MAW MAW or Mamou Maw Maw by her grandkids, Aunt JOY  by her nieces/nephews and Mother Rejoyice to many in the community. Rejoyice  departed her loving family at her home at the age of 99yrs old.

Rejoyice was born on Sunday, November 25, 1923 to Kellie and Lorida Matthew.

Rejoyice was mother to eight children and leaves behind five living children; Janice Marie Whitehurst (Ray), Garland, TX ; Louanna Henderson of Garland, TX; Kines Thomas (Rose) of Mamou, LA; Mary Ann Captain (Ted) of Kinder, LA; and Julia Nell Lewis (Baron) of Forney, TX. Two siblings; George Ann Young of Beaumont, TX and Arthur Neville of Houston, TX.; 19 Grandchildren, 29 Great Grandchildren and 12 Great, Great Grandchildren.

Rejoyice was preceded in death by her loving husband, Inies Thomas.  Three sons, Fanley (Florence) Thomas, Stanley and Paul Thomas. One Grandchild: Nicole Henderson and one Great Grandchild: Regaryn Joseph Reed.  Her parents, Kellie and Lorida Matthew.  Two brothers: Adam Matthew, Van Lewis and George Neville and one sister: Priscilla Freeman.
