MAMOU - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou on Monday, April 16, 2018, for Ray Ryder, 61, who passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in Ville Platte, LA.

Deacon Ben Soileau will conduct the funeral services.

Burial will take place in the New St. Ann's Cemetery in Mamou, LA.

Ray Ryder was born in Ville Platte on June 06, 1956 to Burleigh Ryder and Rose Soileau. Ray worked as a Correctional Officer in the prison system, and was an engineer for offshore crew and supply boats. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed fishing for spotted catfish in every lake and bayou in Louisiana. He enjoyed country living and the outdoors; where he raised chickens, ducks, guineas, goats, and rabbits. He had an extremely big heart and was known for opening his home for anyone who needed a place to stay. Ray loved family gatherings, and he loved his grandchildren immensely. They were the light of his world. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his daughter, Tabitha Ryder; sons, T.J. Ryder, Chase Jeansonne and wife Jennifer Latiolais, Corey Ryder, and Turnice Ryder; sister, Debbie Fulton and husband Cliff; brother, Mitch Soileau; grandchildren, Michayla Ryder, Morgan Ryder, Gavin Ryder, Alex Guidrov, Layla Guidrov, Matthew Latiolais, Aidan Jeansonne, Chase Jeansonne, Noah Ryder, Colby Gartman and Jeanica Gartman; and step-children, Martin Jeansonne, Brian Jeansonne, and Marcus Jeansonne.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Rose Soileau; step-father, Irving Soileau; father, Burleigh Ryder; daughter, Jeanica Ryder; and sisters, Mandy Douget and Danette Ryder.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou on Sunday, April 15, 2017 from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM. Visitation will continue Monday from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM.
