Patricia Ann Parent Ardoin

Mamou

MAMOU - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Patricia Ann Parent Ardoin at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mamou, La.  Father Billy Massie will preside over the service as the celebrant.  Interment will be conducted at New St. Ann's Cemetery.

Patricia Ann Parent Ardoin was born on August 13, 1940, to Weber Joseph Parent, Sr. and Freddie Fruge Parent. Pat was born with a joyful nature and kind spirit. These gifts of character were present throughout her life. She was born and raised in Mamou, Louisiana. She graduated from Mamou High School in 1958. She developed life-long friends during her high school years and was a participant in many extracurricular activities. Upon graduation from high school, she attended SLI for a year.

Pat caught the eye of the love of her life, Kern Ardoin, while she was in high school. They started dating during her senior year. Kern won her heart, and they were married on May 28, 1960. They moved to New Orleans and had their first born. Shortly thereafter they relocated to San Jose, California, for a few years and had their second child. They made the decision to return home to Louisiana to be closer to their family and welcomed five more children. Pat cared for and nurtured her family throughout all these phases of their life together.

Pat decided to return to college to pursue a bachelor's degree in English education and library science from the University of Southwest Louisiana. She graduated in 1972 and began teaching high school in Evangeline Parish. She then pursued a Master's degree in Education and completed this degree in 1985 from McNeese State University. Pat loved the teaching profession. She made a difference in the lives of so many students. She used education as a tool to instill confidence, self-esteem, and to build character. She was in the education system for over 25 years, and retired in 1999. Pat and her husband, Kern, enjoyed retirement by traveling throughout the United States, mostly by motorcycle. They were able to enjoy their grandchildren and attended almost every event!

During retirement, Pat was also able to begin devoting herself even more to the community through her Catholic faith. She has been a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Mamou throughout her life, where she received all of her sacraments. She has been a lay Carmelite for the past 10 years. She was part of the Theresians for several years. She also served St. Ann Parish as a lector and eucharistic minister for many years. Above all, her most cherished ministry was Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. She coordinated adoration and was an adorer for over 30 years. Other St. Ann Catholic Church spiritual groups that she was active in were her rosary group and the Cenacles group. She was also devoted to our Blessed Mother Mary in a very special way. Pat was born to nurture, and she was a mother to many, not just her own children. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving family. Patricia is survived by her brother Weber Joseph Parent Jr. (Diddy) and his wife Barbara. She is also survived by her seven children Karen Aguillard (Craig), Missy Francois (Leonard), Denee Courville (Don), Alicia Corlew (Joseph), Kevin Ardoin (Jill), Kurt Ardoin (Alesia) and Amanda Ardoin. She is also survived by her 18 grandchildren, Tyler Aguillard (Chase Ardoin), Daniel Aguillard (Molli), Jacob Aguillard (Claire), Kara Johnson (Joey), Samuel Vidrine (Shelby), Matt Vidrine (Alexandra), John Paul Vidrine (Kimberlyn), William Vidrine, Sarah Vidrine (Colton Chaddrick), Emily Vidrine, Michael Corlew, Dylan Corlew, Dr. Kaleb Ardoin, Julia Ardoin (Carter Lundin) Joshua Ardoin, Jack Ardoin, Madeline Ardoin, and Kate Ardoin. She is also survived by 8 great grandchildren; Owen Aguillard, Ellis Aguillard, Greyson Aguillard, Myles Aguillard, Vivienne Vidrine, Thomas Vidrine, Evelyn Vidrine, and John Vidrine, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Patricia was preceded in death by her loving husband Lloyd Kern Ardoin, her parents Weber Joseph Parent Sr. and Freddie Fruge Parent, and her sister Mary Hedy Parent Fruge.
