MAMOUIt is with great sadness that the family of Melba Hidalgo Fontenot announces her passing on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the Carpenter House in Baton Rouge. She was 70. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Thursday, May 27, 2010 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Mamou at 11:00 am, with Father Bryce Sibley Celebrant .Burial will be in the St. Bridget Cemetery with Father Ted Broussard Officiating.

A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Melba is survived by her husband, RodleyShane Fontenot of Mamou one son Wendall Fontenot of Mamou one daughter,Nichole F. Suire and husband Eric of Baton Rouge one sister, Beverly Mayer and husband Charles of Pineville one brother Raymond Hidalgo and wife Connie of Gonzales one sisterinlaw Earlene Hidalgo of Slidell six grandchildren, Jacob, Ashley, Kye, and Mark Fontenot, and Nicholas and Skylar Suire two greatgrandchildren, Hunter and Addison Fontenot. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Ora Hidalgo one brother Vernon Hidalgo and one sister, Linda Hidalgo.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Mamou on Wednesday, May 25, 2010 from 9:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Thursday, May 27, 2010 from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be held at 6:30 am on Wednesday evening.
