MAMOUIt is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Mathilda Gradneigo
announces her passing on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Our Lady Of Lourdes Medical center in Lafayette at the age of 89. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Ann Catholic Church in Mamou at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 25, 2012. Interment will follow in the St. Peters Cemetery in Pine Prairie with Rev. Jeremy Gradney officiating.
Mathilda loved to cook and bake She also raised a garden, loved to dance to her beloved French music and her Catholic Faith and loved to say the Rosary in French.
A wonderful mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother and friend, she will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by three sons, Russell Pierre Gradney, Jr and wife Idella, of Baton Rouge, Ernest Paul Gradney, Sr. and wife Janice of Prairieville, and Joseph James Gradney and wife Danuta of Mehlhach, Germany two daughters, Ethel Jean Singleton and husband Roger of Oakdale, and Brenda Gail Bernard and husband Michael of Scott twentyone grandchildren and fortytwo greatgrandchildren and one greatgreatgrandchild
She now rests in Heaven with her beloved parents, Odecio and Philomane Gradney and her husband Russell Pierre Gradneigo,Sr. and twenty seven siblings At the request of the Gradneigo family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Mamou on Friday, February 24, 2012 from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited at 8:00 pm on Friday evening. The Funeral Home will reopen at 8:00 am on Saturday morning until time of services.
