Mary Chapman Guillory, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at her home in Reddell, Louisiana. Born on Thursday, August 9, 1945 in Plaissance, Mary lived a life marked by love, community, and devotion to her family and faith. Funeral services will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the New St. Ann Cemetery with Brother Erwin Goodman officiating services.
Mary was a bookkeeper at Buddy's Drive In and Buddy Home Gas, where she was known not only for her diligent work ethic but also for her warm smile and caring nature that touched everyone around her. Her most important job however was taking care of her family.
A longtime faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Mamou, Mary found joy in singing with the choir, an accomplishment that brought her great pride and fulfillment. She was a woman of many interests and hobbies, including a deep love for reading suspense novels, which provided her hours of enjoyment. Her fondness for family was evident in her joyful family trips to Galveston and Biloxi, where cherished memories were created and laughter echoed. In her quiet moments, she found solace tending to her garden, nurturing flowers that blossomed under her care.
Mary took great delight in dressing her grandchildren in matching outfits for events they attended together, showcasing her loving and playful spirit. She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Buddy Guillory; her son, Brent Guillory (Nicky); her daughters, Sue Guillory Francois (Johnny) and Kimberley Guillory Darbonne (Patrick); and her five beloved grandchildren—Stevi, Brittany, Kenny, Blake, and Alana. She also leaves behind her eleven great-grandchildren: Logan, Eleecia, Cadance, Bryce, Pyton, Lathen, Harley, Secily, Sloan, Salem, and Saffire, with one more on the way, bringing smiles to her family.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Yourick Chapman and Emily Fontenot Chapman, as well as two brothers and eight sisters. She also mourned the loss of her grandchildren Lucas Langley and Johnathan Francois, along with her great-grandchild Selby Breaux.
Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have her in their lives.
A visitation in celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou from 9:00 AM until time of service.
Mary Ethel Guillory will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the loving memories she created with her family.
