Marjorie Thibodeaux Stamm ("Pal") Conner

A Legend of Human Kindness and Love

Marjorie Thibodeaux Stamm ("Pal") Conner, educator, caregiver, and humanitarian activist, died at her daughter's home in Mamou, Louisiana, on Friday, November 20, 2015. Pal was born on January 04, 1934, in the Mermentau Cove Community of Morse, Louisiana, to DeLuke Arthur and Ida (Broussard) Thibodeaux Sr. She founded The Sunshine Kids and Hope United in Giving. A graduate of McNeese State University, Pal taught special education in Cameron and Acadia parishes. She was a genealogical historian focusing on the ancestry of the Faulk, Harrington, Thibodeaux, and Broussard families and compiled and published the Faulk Family Cookbook.

Pal is survived by her daughter, Anita Lynne Stamm Suydam Spears (and husband, James) of Mamou; son, Patrick Morgan Stamm of Mamou; four grandchildren, including Daniel Morgan Joseph Suydam (and wife, Kimberly) of Denham Springs; Chad Stewart Suydam of Lake Charles, as well as Caiden and Lainie Abshire of Mamou. Pal is additionally survived by two great grandchildren, Lily-Ann and Conner Suydam of Denham Springs. Also included are Willie Mae Guidry and her family and Gladys ("Blue") Ogea and her family. She will also be missed by long-time good friend, Loretta Theriot of Lake Charles; cousin and good friend, Geraldine Hubbell of Lafayette; and many others whom Pal cherished and loved.

Preceding Pal in death were her son, Edward Clark ("Bubba") Stamm; husband, Levodie ("Jinks") Conner; step-daughter, Caroline Ann Conner; first husband and father of Pal's three children, Edward Vandel Stamm; and all nine siblings, Dorothy Faye Thibodeaux Thibodeaux, Dalton Wray ("Bodie") Thibodeaux, Wilda Rose Thibodeaux ("Lulie") Guidry, Theola May Thibodeaux ("Blackie") Hanks, DeLuke Arthur ("Sonny") Thibodeaux. Jr., John Sidney ("Johnny") Thibodeaux, James Curtis ("Buddy") Thibodeaux, Celeste Irene Thibodeaux Prejean, and Robert Stanley ("Bobby") Thibodeaux.

Pal donated her body to MD Anderson Hospital for their ongoing cancer research. A celebration of her life will be held at 221 Granger Lane, Lake Charles, Louisiana, 70607, on Sunday, December 13, 2015, from 9 AM to 6 PM.
