Mamou - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mamou on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. for Mrs. Marie Clamie Richard Jones, officiated by Father Thainese. Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Prairie Rhonde. Marie, age 84 and a resident of Mamou, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 at her residence.
Marie was a Surgical Tech Nurse in her youth, a loving mother and Entrepreneur. She owned and operated Marie's Foot Ware for 10 years in Marshall, TX before retiring and returning to Mamou, LA. Aside from owning her business Marie loved dogs and always had one or two to keep her company.
A loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by one son, Chris Anthony Jones and wife, Debbie of Newport News, VA; one daughter, Jennifer Marie Jones Beck and husband Ron of Ingleside, TX; two sisters, Ethel Richard Daire and husband, Bernard of Mamou and Euna Richard Thibodeaux, and husband, Aubrey of Prairie Rhonde; one brother, Joe Richard and wife Frankie of Opelousas; three grandchildren, Jonathan Leritte of Citrus Heights, CA, Jeremy Leritte of Hanover, PA and Mark Anthony Jones of Newport News, VA.
She is preceded in death by her husband John Clifton Jones; father Joseph Eveton Richard, mother Josephine Odette Richard, son-in-law George Alan Leritte, brother John L. Richard and sister Versie Richard Landreneau and one sister-in-law, Nell Ledoux Richard.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Mamou Friday, March 17, 2017 beginning at 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited by Timothy Richard at 6:00 p.m.
