MAMOU – Funeral services will be held at a 3:30 PM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 for Lucy Wayne Manuel, 85, who passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2020 in Ville Platte.

Father Bala Rayapati will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct funeral services.

Burial will take place in Reed Cemetery.

Lucy Wayne Marcantel Manuel was born in Mamou on March 12, 1935 to Senior and Armide Shuff Marcantel.  She enjoyed working in her flower beds, visiting with family and friends over coffee, cooking for her family for Sunday dinners, and having her grandchildren over for sleepovers. She found the most joy spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They always brought the happiest smile to her face. She will be missed by all those who loved her.

Lucy is survived by her son, Jessie Manuel of Mamou and two daughters, Mitzi Manuel Brignac and husband Brent “Zig” of Ville Platte and Mignone Manuel Crisp of Washington; one brother, Web Marcantel and wife Loretta of Opelousas; and sister, Gretel Marcantel Ardoin of Mamou.  Also left behind to cherish her memory are her five grandchildren, Coty Manuel, Shailene Francious, Danielle Meche and husband Lucas, Chet Marcantel and wife Brittany, and Shelbie Miller and husband Jordy, and her eight great grandchildren Izzy Manuel, Addison Meche, Camdyn Meche, Elliott Meche, Cheslie Marcantel, Chrislie Marcantel, Madelynn Miller, and Ellie Kate Miller.

Lucy is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Jasper J. Manuel; parents, Senior and Armide Marcantel; sister Wyline Marcantel Fontenot; brother Hansel Marcantel, and son-in-law Vaughn Crisp.

The family requests that visitation be observed at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 beginning at 2:30 PM until Mass time at 3:30 PM.
