MAMOU- It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Lou Ella Blanchard, age 89, announces her passing on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Lafayette General Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mamou at 10:30 AM. Entombment will follow in the New St. Ann's Mausoleum with Father Thainese as celebrant.
A loving mother, grandmother and friend, Lou Ella will be greatly missed by her sons, John Richard Blanchard and wife Debry of Walker, La., James Anthony Blanchard and wife Cynthia of Lafayette, daughters, Charlotte "Charlie" Marie B. Rogers and husband Leslie of Rogers, Arkansas, Rachelle Marie Blanchard and husband Byron Kurt DesHotels of Breaux Bridge and sister-in-law, Louise Berwick of Iowa, La. Lou Ella also leaves behind 7 grandchildren: Lonnie Paul Blanchard, Michelle Alise Olivier, Danielle Stafford, Nicole Chapel, Joseph Ootie Billeaud, Adam Rogers, Angelle Rogers and 9 great grandchildren to cherish her loving memory.
She will now rest in Heaven with her husband Lelby Blanchard and grandchild, John Blanchard.
At the request of the Blanchard family, a visitation will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou from 4 PM until 9 PM and will reopen again on Saturday, October 9, 2015 at 8 AM until time of services. A rosary will be prayed in Lou Ella's honor Friday evening at 6 PM.
