Lorena Marie Johnson

MAMOU - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Lorena Marie Johnson at St.  Peters Catholic Church in Pine Priaire at 12:00 pm on Monday, July 3, 2023. Mass will be led by Father Mayne and burial will follow at the Ortego Cemetery.

Lorena Marie Johnson, 92, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 in Pine Prairie. Lorena was born in Mamou on Sunday, October 26, 1930  to Gladwin and Elda Deshotel. She loved to bake cakes and cookies and to create her own recipes; although she never did share her famous cornbread recipe. Lorena enjoyed taking long walks to town to visit her friends and family.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister whose memory will be forever cherished.

Lorena is survived by her daughters, Sarah Dupre of Pine Prairie and Lisa Fontenot and husband, Dennis of Pine Prairie and sister, Alma Faye Tate and husband, Shelton of Eunice. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, Tricia Oliver, Shawn Dupre, Kyle Dupre, Dusty Fontenot, and Kevin Fontenot; 10 great grandchildren, Alison, Camille, Hannah, Bret, Payton, Noah, Isabelle, Kattie, Cloe, and Hunter; and one great-great grandson, Brooks.

Lorena is preceded in death by husband, Herbert Johnson; parents, Gladwin and Elda Deshotel; brothers, Timmy Deshotel, Darrell Deshotel, and George Deshotel; sisters, Margie Standingwater and Diane Myers; grandson, Jamie Dupre; and son-in-law, Johnny Dupre.

At the request of the family visitation will be held at St. Peters Catholic Church Hall in Pine Prairie on Monday, July 3, 2023 beginning at 9:00 am until time of services. A rosary will be recited and led by Father Mayne at 11:00 am.
