MAMOUThe devoted family of Lilly G. Mayeux, 97 is sad to announce the death of their matriarch. Lilly went to join the Lord on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 8:25 am at the Evangeline Oaks Guest House in Carencro. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Mamou. Entombment will follow in the New St. Anns Mausoleum with Deacon Robert Leger officiating..
Mrs. Mayeux was a lifelong resident of Reddell where she and her husband, Jercise Mayeux raised their three children they owned and operated a general merchandise store, several rental properties and a farming enterprise for over 65 years. She was active for many years in the Catholic Daughters, a local Rosary group and the Evangeline Parish Home Demonstration Club. A loving mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother, Lilly leaves behind two sons, Stacy Mayeux of Reddell, Terry Mayeux and wife, Nell of Opelousas and one daughter, Wilda Mayeux Chapman of Scott In addition to her three children she is survived by 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and several greatgreat grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hosea and Lena Guillory, her husband of 73 years, Jercise Mayeux, two brothers, Lumney and Laten Guillory, three sisters, Lillian Guillory, Joyce Guillory and Ella Ray Manuel and three grandchildren, Timothy Chapman, Ricky Mayeux and Peter J. Mayeux and two infant great grandchildren.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home on Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited in her honor on Saturday evening at 7:00 pm the funeral home will reopen on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at 8:00 am until time of services.
