Kelly Fontenot

MAMOU- A Funeral Service will be held for Kelly L. Fontenot, 94, at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 27, 2023, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte, LA.  Burial will take place in Reed Cemetery in Mamou.

Kelly passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. He was born March 28, 1928, to Stephen Fontenot and Adeide Granger Fontenot. He was a heavy equipment operator and loved to spend time with friends on the weekends, listening and dancing to Cajun music. Kelly was a bit of a treasure hunter who enjoyed finding broken things on the side of the road and making them useful again. He was also fond of camping and cooking and was a parishioner of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Kelly will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his children, Stephanie Stutes and her husband, Gene, David Miller and wife, Cristine, Kerry Fontenot and wife, Sonya; his brother, Elvin Fontenot; and survived by 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Adeide Fontenot; his wife, Loresa Fontenot, siblings, Burk Lee Fontenot, Gladys Fontenot Young, Cleveland Fontenot, Dorothy F. Deshotel; sons, Anthony Fontenot and Darin Miller.

Visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Friday, January 27, 2023, from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
