Joyce Bertrand Darbonne, 85, a lifelong resident of Mamou, LA, passed from this life to her heavenly home on September 7, 2018 in Dallas, TX.

Joyce was born on July 25, 1933 to Sidney and Salina Bertrand in Mamou, LA. She graduated with honors from Mamou High School in 1951 as salutatorian. Joyce worked 35 years for Savoy Medical Center in many capacities and was proud of her key role in supporting both Dr. Frank Savoy Sr. and later Dr. Frank Savoy Jr. She had a dry witty sense of humor that often left us wondering how serious she was. She was an avid reader and enjoyed reading from her French bible to Savoy Care Center residents. She was a member of Mamou First Baptist Church where she taught bible studies, sang, and assisted with treasurer and secretarial duties.

Joyce leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Celina Mann and husband Gene Mann of Dallas, TX; her sons Buddy Darbonne and longtime companion Debbie Duplechain of Reddell, LA, Patrick Darbonne and wife Kim Darbonne of Reddell, LA; grandchildren Greg Brattin of Houston, TX, and Seth Brattin of Dallas, TX; great grandson Jean-Michael Brattin of Lake Providence, LA; sister-in-law Tralise Morein of Lafayette, LA; and many Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband Claiborne Darbonne Sr.; brother Atney Bertrand of Eunice, LA; sisters Rose Granger of Lake Charles, LA, Jean O'Neal of Lake Charles, LA; infant sister Helen Bertrand; and brother-in-law Luther Darbonne of Pasadena, TX.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
