MAMOUIt is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of, Joseph Lloyd Cormier, Sr, 75 announce his passing on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 3:45 pm at the Veterans Hospital in Alexandria. Chapel services will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Ardoins Funeral Home Chapel in Mamou. Burial will follow in the Assumption Cemetery in Mire with Pastor Terry LaFleur officiating.
Joseph was A Master Boat Captain for 35 years in the Intercostals Waterways In Louisiana He was Veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era as a Medic he also loved gardening and he was a loving, kind and gentle man.
Joseph will be greatly missed by his wife, Sophie Guillory Cormier of Mamou one son, Joseph Cormier, Jr. of Jacksonville, Fl two stepsons, Christopher Ryan Soileau of Deer Park, Tx and Joshua Kent Manuel of Lake Charles one daughter, Avia Amber Langley and husband Jamie P. Sr. of Kinder three stepdaughters, Deborah K. Meyer and husband, Wally of Desoto, Ka, Dianna Waite and husband Randy of Salina, Ka and Jacqueline Meyers of Duralde two brothers, James Carrol Cormier of Rayne and Ivy Cormier, Jr of Church Point four sisters, Earline Fontenot of Ville Platte, Betty Bergeron and Mary Dupre both of Church Point and Sherry Cormier of Iota five grandchildren, Lauren and Kaytlin Cormier and Avia D., Brittney and Jamie P. Langley, Jr 10 step grandchildren and five stepgreat grandchildren
Mr. Cormier was preceded in by his parents, Ivy and Avia Cormier.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home on Monday, December 9, 2013 from 12:00 pm until 10:00 pm and again on Tuesday from 8:00 am until time of services.
