With heavy hearts, the family of Jessie J. Rider, announces his passing on Friday, June 14, 2024 in St. Landry, Louisiana. At the age of 68, Jessie leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by his loved ones. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mamou on Monday, June 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the New St. Ann Cemetery.
Born on Friday, March 9, 1956, in Mamou, Louisiana, Jessie grew up to be a hard-working individual who found joy in the simple pleasures of life and had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. Throughout his career as a chef working offshore, Jessie demonstrated exceptional cooking skills that earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Beyond his profession, Jessie was a man of diverse interests. He found solace in camping trips under the open sky and took great pride in tending to his garden. His love for nature reflected his gentle spirit and appreciation for the great outdoors.
Jessie's kind and generous nature extended to all aspects of his life. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Elizabeth “Liz” Rider; three sons, Jessie Lee Rider, Eric Rider, and Tim Manuel; three stepsons, Joseph Tagliarino (Cathy), Christopher Tagliarino, and Carlton Tagliarino; and one stepdaughter, Mathilda Rollins (Patrick). Also left behind to cherish his memory are seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; one great grandchild; two step great grandchildren; brother, James Rider (Marie); sister, Gloria Bourque (Irvin),and sister, Patricia Ann Bordelon; and godchild, Shannon.
Jessie is preceded in death by his parents, Murry and Mercy Rider; son, Kevin Rider; daughter, Christine Rider; and three brothers, Robert, Murry, and Michael Rider.
Family and friends may pay their respects and celebrate the life of a remarkable individual at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Sunday, June 16 beginning at 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday, June 17 from 8:00 AM until time of dismissal for service.
May Jessie rest in peace, embraced by the beauty of nature he so dearly cherished in life.
