MAMOU -- Funeral Services for Jessie S. LaFleur, a beloved resident of Mamou, Louisiana will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou followed by Interment at Reed Cemetery. She passed away at her residence surrounded by family on November 9, 2023. Jessie was a person of immense love and kindness, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and compassion that will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on January 20, 1937, in Mamou, Louisiana, Jessie's life was intimately intertwined with the rich and vibrant culture of her hometown. Growing up in this close-knit community shaped her into the gracious and caring individual she would become.
Jessie possessed a captivating personality that drew people towards her like moths to a flame. Her heart overflowed with unconditional love and an unwavering kindness towards others. She radiated positivity with every interaction, leaving everyone she encountered feeling uplifted and appreciated.
One of Jessie's greatest joys in life was indulging in her hobbies. Sewing became an art form for her as she skillfully transformed fabric into beautiful creations that were both practical and visually striking. Her dedication to tending her flower beds brought bursts of color to the world around her, as she reveled in the beauty of nature unfolding before her eyes. Many were fortunate enough to receive jams and preserves from Jessie's canning expertise, savoring the taste of summer fruits even during the coldest months.
However, it was within the realms of her church that Jessie found solace and purpose. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her faith and actively participated in prayer meetings with her church group. Her unwavering commitment to spirituality infused every aspect of her life with a sense of peace and tranquility.
Jessie had a talent for creating delicious sweets that delighted both young and old alike. Amongst all her creations, her grandchildren’s favorite was her peanut butter balls.
Survivors include sons, James Curtis LaFleur, John Ricky LaFleur, Sr. and wife, Wendy, Mark Davis LaFleur and wife, Angie, Craig LaFleur and Kirk LaFleur and wife, Rachel all of Mamou; grandchildren, John Ricky LaFleur, Jr., Astra Michelle Deshotel Willis, Samuel Miles LaFleur, Kristin Lindsey LaFleur Donahue, John Curtis LaFleur, Joseph “Pete” LaFleur, Jacob LaFleur, Christian LaFleur, Shawnee LaFleur, Craig Allen LaFleur, Ashley Renee LaFleur, Shawn Michael LaFleur, April Dawn LaFleur, Alex Joseph LaFleur, Chandler Davis LaFleur and Mason Tate LaFleur, Thirty-Five great grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Davis Soileau and Mary Pierrotite Soileau; husband, Curtis “CL” LaFleur Sr., and grandson, Marshall Travis LaFleur.
Visitation services for Jessie will be held from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on November 16, 2023, at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou.
