MAMOU – A memorial service will be held at a later date for Jency Miller who passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at her residence in St. Martinville, Louisiana at the age of 90. A private burial will follow in the Old St. Ann’s Cemetery in Mamou.
Jency Miller was born on Wednesday, December 7, 1932 in Pine Point to Willie S. and Olena Thompson Deshotel and was a long time resident of Mamou and a resident of St. Martinville for the past 8 years. Jency was a loving and compassionate woman, always looking to help someone in need. She regularly ferried her disabled friends to doctor appointments, shopping trips, and other outings. Her family was her life and she made every effort to keep the family close. Jency loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and always looked forward to being with them. Everyone who met Jency loved her. Her favorite quote was “Change the way you look at things and things will change.” Jency will be greatly missed by those who loved her and her memory will always be cherished.
Jency is survived by four children, Michael Miller and wife, Patricia of Denham Springs, Roxanne Miller of The Woodlands, Texas, Karen Miller of St. Martinville and Gregory Miller and wife, Fara of Ventress; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Wayne Miller; parents, Willie S. and Olena Thompson Deshotel; and brother Grover Deshotel, who was killed in action in the Korean War.
