MAMOU - The family of Jason Fontenot announces his passing on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the Calcutta House in Lafayette at the age of 68, surrounded by his family and loved ones. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Monday, June 9, 2025, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou. Burial will follow in the New St. Ann Cemetery with Father Massie, Celebrant.
Jason was born on April 6, 1957, to the late Earl and Mercedes Fusilier Fontenot. He was a devoted, family man, farmer and outdoorsman who could almost certainly be found in the hunting stand during the fall. His cooking brought family and friends together, one of his favorite things to do. He never met a stranger, no matter where he was, whether traveling or on the dance floor. His personality shone through his smile, laughter and jokes.
He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him especially his beloved partner of 16 and half years, Kamela Doucet of Abbeville; his children, Christopher Paul Fontenot and fiancé, Brooke LaFleur of Vidrine, William Scott Fontenot and wife, Katelyn of Abbeville, Lauren Riggs and husband, Jordan of Denham Springs, and Camille Gardner and husband, Matthew of Lafayette; daughter-in-law Heidi Fontenot of Lafayette; his brother, Daniel Fontenot of Eunice; his sister, Myra Fontenot of Conroe, TX; his nine grandchildren, Silas Kane Fontenot and fiancé Chelsea Soileau, Emily Jade Barnes and spouse William Barnes, Harley Ann Fontenot, Liam Troy Fontenot, Weston Blake Fontenot, Parker Wayne Fontenot who is on the way, Thomas Allen Gardner, Evelyn James Riggs, and Elise Andre Gardner; as well as extended family and friends.
Jason is preceded in death by his wife, Lynette Arnaud Fontenot; his son, Donovan Troy Fontenot; his parents; and brother, David L. Fontenot.
At the request of the family, a visitation will be held at Vincent’s Funeral Home in Abbeville on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Visitation will resume at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 9:00 am until the time of services. A Rosary will be prayed at 12:00 pm on Monday at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou.
