MAMOU - Funeral services will be held at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mamou on Saturday, December 30, 2017, for Jane D. Soileau, 77, who passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017 in Opelousas, LA.
Father Billy Massie, pastor of St. Ann Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in the New St. Ann's Cemetery in Mamou.
Jane was born in Reddell, Louisiana on August 16, 1940 to Albert and Anita Deshotel. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church where she helped to count the church collections. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters. She owned and operated the family restaurant, the Demon Drive-In, for many years. She enjoyed taking morning walks, sewing and was a dedicated homemaker to her husband, her two daughters, and grandchildren. Her passion was her family.
She is survived by her daughters Vicky Soileau Tate and husband Randel of Mandeville, LA and Connie Soileau Aucoin and husband Neal of Opelousas, LA.; four grandchildren, Kelli A. Holman of Lenoir, NC, Miles Aucoin of Sugarland, TX., Lauren A. Talvitie of London, England and Ryan Tate of Mandeville, LA., and seven great-grandchildren, Lucas Thibodeaux, Riley Holman, Kaitlyn Holman, Noah Aucoin, Perrin Aucoin, Hendrix Talvitie and Ezra Talvitie.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Anita Guillory Deshotel; husband, George Edward Soileau, and one brother, Carl Deshotel.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Mamou on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM. A rosary will be recited at 5:00 PM Friday evening by Deacon Gary Gaudin. Visitation will continue Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of service.
